Only 2h30 drive from Marrakech (the tourist capital), on the Atlantic cost, a beautiful and traditional city: Essaouira. Famous for its fisher port, its old city surrounding of ramparts, and its beaches perfect for kite surfers. We spend a day there, and we prefer it at the famous Marrakech for its tranquility and its simplicity.

We arrived for lunch at Essaouira, we first stopped in our accommodation. We choose a little riad inside the medina (old city). From outside we were wondering where we were going to sleep but when we enter we were positively surprised by the cuteness of this Riad. I will also recommend it because the staff were amazingly nice and gave us useful tips. The Riad name is CHEMS BLEU.

Let's visit Essaouira:

A seulement 2h30 de route de Marrakech (la capitale touristique), sur la cote Atlantique, une belle et traditionnelle ville: Essaouira. Populaire pour son port de pêcheur, sa veille ville entourée de remparts et c'est plage parfaite pour les kite surfers. Nous avons passé un jour ici, et nous avons préféré à la célèbre ville de Marrakech pour sa tranquillité et simplicité.

Nous sommes arrivé à Essaouira à l'heure du déjeuner, Tout d'abord on s'est arrêté à notre logement. Nous avons choisis un petit riad dans la medina. De l'extérieur on s'est demandé où on aller dormir mais une fois à l'intérieur du riad on a été agréablement surpris par la beauté de ce riad. Nous le recommandons également car l'équipe était super sympa et nous a donné de pleins de conseils. Le nom du Riad est CHEMS BLEU.

Commençons notre visite d'Essaouira:

A sole 2 ore e mezza da Marrakech( la capitale dei turisti) sulla costa bagnata dall'oceano Atlantico troverete la stupenda e tradizionale città di Essaouira. Famosa per il suo porto e il pesce è una città piena di bastioni e spiagge in cui fare kite surf. Abbiamo passato un intera giornata qua e ci è piaciuta di più della famosa Marrakech per la sua tranquillità e semplicità.

Siamo arrivati in torno a mezzogiorno e come prima cosa abbiamo trovato il nostro hotel. Abbiamo scelto di soggiornare in un piccolo riad dentro la medina( la città vecchia). Da fuori ci siamo chiesti dove stavamo andando ma come siamo entrati siamo subito stati colpiti dalla bellezza del Riad. Ve lo consigliamo anche perché lo staff è stato davvero d'aiuto dandoci tutte le informazioni che un turista potesse necessitare e il nome è CHEMS BLEU.

Andiamo a visitare Essaouira!

1. We walked to the fisher port. Authentic place where you can find fresh fish, the fishermen and their traditional blue boats. If you are looking for authenticity and you are not sensitive to smell and cleanliness, you will love this place.

1. Nous avons marché jusqu'au port de pêcheur. Un lieu authentique où vous pouvez trouver du poissons frais, les poissonniers et leurs traditionnel bateaux bleu de pêche. Si vous êtes à la recherche d'authenticité et vous n'êtes pas sensible aux odeurs et à la propreté, ce lieu est fait pour vous!

1. Direzione porto del pesce. Un posto davvero tradizionale dove troverete del pesce super fresco ed i pescatori con le loro tipiche barche blu. Se cercate qualcosa di autentico e se non siete particolarmente deboli di stomaco per via dell'odore di pesce amerete questo posto.

2. Between the port and the medina you will find a square with small restaurants. Those restaurants are using fresh fishes from the market and grill it for you on the BBQ. It's really cheap (4 people around £30) and really good!

2. Entre le port et la medina vous allez trouver une place avec des petits restaurants. Ces restaurants utilisent le poisson frais du marché qu'ils grillent sur le BBQ. C'est vraiment pas cher (4 personnes pour moins de 30€) et très bon!

2. Tra il porto e la Medina troverete una piazzetta pieni piccoli di ristoranti. Questi ristoranti offrono pesce fresco appena pescato pronto da grigliare.

3. The afternoon we walked in the medina and visited the rampart. There are two ramparts you can visit the one next to the port where you have to pay the entrance and the other one in the medina that it's free. We did the free one. Walking in the medina you will find craftsmen and shops. We really advise you to buy your souvenirs here and not in Marrakech. First because you can do your shopping peacefully and second because it's cheaper. Also Essaouira is known for it's art, craft and creativity, you will find the same objects than Marrakech in cheaper but also different and original one.

3. L'après midi nous avons marché dans la medina et visité les remparts. Il y a deux ramparts que vous pouvez visiter, le premier est près du port et l'entrée est payante, le second se trouve dans la medina et est gratuit. Nous avons fait celui qui est gratuit. En marchant dans la medina vous allez trouver des artisans et magasins. On vous conseille d'acheter vos souvenirs ici et pas à Marrakech. Parce que vous pouvez faire vos achats tranquillement et parce que c'est moins cher. Essaouira est également connu pour son art, son artisanat et sa créativité, vous allez trouver les meme objets qu'à Marrakech en moins cher mais également des différents et originaux.

3. Pomeriggio visitando la Medina e i bastioni della città. Ci sono due bastioni principali uno si trova vicino al porto e per visitarlo dovrete pagare l'ingresso l'altro invece si trova nella Medina e l'ingresso è gratuito. Ovviamente abbiamo visitato quello gratis. Camminando nella Medina troverete un sacco di artigiani con i loro negozietti. Se dovete comprare de souvenir vi consigliamo di comprarli qua invece che a Marrakech. Primo perché potrete fare shopping tranquillamente senza che nessuno vi stressi e secondo perché costano molto meno e sono più originali che a Marrakech visto che Essaouira è famosa per la sua creatività.

4. After we got lost in the medina and bought few souvenirs, we stopped in a cafe, on the main place, watching the sunset, listening singer and drinking a moroccan tea.

4. Apres nous être perdu dans les rues de la medina et acheté nos souvenirs, on s'est arrêté dans un café sur la place principale pour regarder le coucher de soleil, écouter les artistes de rue et boire un thé à la menthe.

4. Dopo ci siamo persi nella Medina e abbiamo comprato dei souvenir e per rilassarci ci siamo fermati in una caffetteria della piazza ammirando il tramonto sorseggiando il tipico te e ascoltando degli artisti suonare e cantare.

5. To end our day we went to eat and drink in a nice rooftop restaurant called TAROS. A nice chill night with traditional gnawa singers and contemporary music.

5. A la fin de la journée nous avons mangé et bu dans un restaurant rooftop appelé TAROS. Une soirée sympa avec des chanteurs traditionnel gnawa et de la musique actuelle.

5. Per finire la nostra giornata decidiamo di cenare in una terrazza bar/ristorante che si chiama TAROS. Una bella serata con della tipica musica Gnawa.

6. The morning you can do a walk on the beach. To refill your batteries it's the best!

6. Le matin vous pouvez faire une ballade sur la plage. Le meilleur moyen pour recharger les batteries!

6. Al mattino potete fare una passeggiata sulla spiaggia. È il miglior modo per riacquistare tutte le energie.
