8 days in Iceland . 8 jours en Islande . 8 giorni in Islanda

🇬🇧To visit Iceland we rented a car to do all around the island. Our 8 days journey was possible because we drove a lot and we were also lucky with the weather because we didn't find any closed road. But ideally we would recommend 10 days to do this journey because we couldn't visit properly the north side of the Island.

We chose to go in February to have a chance to see northern light, we saw some but this year they were not that strong. If you go in winter you have to be ready because it is really cold and windy. Sometimes the weather can block you roads for a day or cancel activities. We also advise you to take a 4X4 to travel, sometimes we got little fright on the road. You also need to be comfortable to drive, but don't worry it's not that complicate you will always follow the main island road N1.

Iceland is just so worth it to visit! You will never remember how to pronounce the name of the places you discovered but you will never forget those incredible landscapes. You will never see something like this anywhere else !

🇫🇷Pour visiter l'Islande nous avons loué une voiture pour faire le tour de l'ile. Notre séjour de 8 jours a été possible car nous avons beaucoup conduit et nous avons été chanceux de pas avoir trouvé sur notre périple de routes fermés. Idéalement nous vous conseillons de le faire en 10 jours car nous avons pas pu bien visiter le nord de l'ile.

Nous avons choisi d'y aller en février pour avoir une chance de voir les aurores boréales, qu'on a pu admiré mais cette année elles étaient pas très intense. Si vous y allez en hiver, soyez prêt parce qu'il fait très froid et venteux. Parfois à cause du temps les routes seront fermées pour une journée ou les activités annulées. Nous vous conseillons également de louer un 4X4 pour voyager, parfois nous avons eu quelques frayeurs sur la route. Vous devez être à l'aise pour conduire mais ne vous inquiétez pas c'est pas si compliqué vous allez toujours suivre la route principale la N1.

Ca vaut tellement de le coup de visiter l'Island. Vous n'allez jamais vous souvenir comment prononcer le nom des endroits que vous visitez mais n'allez jamais oublier ces paysages incroyables. Vous ne verrez rien de tel ailleurs!

🇮🇹Per visitare l’Islanda abbiamo deciso di affittare un auto e fare il giro completo dell’isola. Siamo riusciti a completarlo in 8 giorni guidando parecchio e siamo stati anche fortunati con il tempo e a non trovare strade chiuse. Vi consigliamo però di fare almeno 10 giorni se volete visitare bene la parte nord dell’isola. Abbiamo scelto di viditarla a Febbraio per aver l’opportunità di vedere l’Aurora Boreale, siamo riusciti a intravederla un po’ ma non molto siccome quest’anno non c’è purtroppo stata un attività elettromagnetica intensa. Se andate in inverno dovete essere preparati perché fa davvero molto freddo e ventoso. Potrete anche trovare strade chiuse causa maltempo o dover annullare attività. Vi consigliamo di affittare un 4X4 per viaggiare. Dovete anche essere un po’ allenati a guidare ma non preoccupatevi la strada principale N1 è quasi sempre bella e facile da guidare.

Ne vale davvero la pena di visitare L Islanda! No vi ricorderete mai come pronunciare i nomi dei luoghi che avete visitato ma sicuramente non vi dimenticherete i panorami mozzafiato che solo qua troverete!

Day 1: Reykjavík

We arrived end of the afternoon in Keflavik airport and we went to pick up our rental car. We booked with guide to Iceland that works with northern light car rentals it was the best deal we found. We choose a 4X4 for more safety because we were in the middle of winter. They also take time to explain us the rules and recommendations. We drove for 45min to join Reykjavik where we book our accommodation via Airbnb.

Jour 1: Reykjavík

Nous sommes arrivé l'après midi à l'aéroport de Keflavik et nous avons récupéré notre voiture de location. Nous avons réservé via le site guide to Iceland avec l'agence northern light car rentals, c'était la solution le meilleur rapport qualité/prix qu'on avait trouvé. Nous avons choisi un 4X4 pour plus de sécurité car nous voyageons en pleine hiver. L'agence a pris de le temps de nous expliquer les règles et recommendations. Nous avons pris la route et conduit 45min jusqu'à Reykjavík où nous avons réservé notre Airbnb pour la nuit.

Giorno 1: Reykjavik 

Siamo arrivati nel tardo pomeriggio all’ aeroporto di Keflavik e siamo subito andati a recuperare l’auto che abbiamo noleggiato. Abbiamo affittato l’auto su guide to Iceland con l’utonoleggio Northern light car rentals dove abbiamo trovato la miglior offerta. Abbiamo scelto una 4X4 per essere più sicuri visto anche che eravamo in pieno inverno. Ci hanno spiegato un po’ le regole e dato alcuni consigli. Abbiamo poi guidato per 45 min fino ad arrivare a Reykjavik dove avevamo prenotato la nostra stanza con Airbnb.

Day 2: Reykjavík

We visited the capital by foot. First we went to the modern cathedral Hallgrímskirkja, after we went to the old town, through the street of Laugavegur we joined the center. On this street you will find shops, bars, restaurants, ... We stopped to eat for lunch at Icelandic street food. We really recommend you to go because it's good and cheap. We choose the seafood soup served in a big bread bowl and you can refile it for free! After we continue to walk direction the Old Harbour, and we continue to walk along the sea and we entered in the Harpa Concert Hall to warm up and admire the architecture. We finally went back in the old town to enjoy Icelandic beer. And we went home, take a warm bath, and go to bed early because tomorrow we will take the road to do the round of the Iceland. (Be careful if you have silver jewelry don't put them under hot water in Iceland they will turn black...)

Jour 2: Reykjavík

Nous avons visité la capital à pied. Nous sommes d'abord allés voir la cathedral Hallgrímskirkja, puis nous sommes allés dans le vieux centre, nous avons longé la rue Laugavegur pour rejoindre le centre. Dans cette rue vous trouverez magasins, bars, restaurants, ... Nous avons déjeuner à Icelandic street food. Nous vous recommandons ce petit restaurant car la nourriture est bonne et pas cher. Nous avons pris une soupe de fruit de mer servis dans un pain creusé en bol et vous pouvez vous resservir gratuitement. Puis nous avons marché direction le vieux port, et continué notre ballade le long de la mer jusqu'à arrivé devant Harpa salle de concert et centre des congrès. Nous sommes rentrés pour nous réchauffer et voir l'architecture et la vue du bâtiment. Nous sommes finalement retourné dans le vieux centre pour boire une bonne bière d'Islande. Nous sommes rentrés tot, pris un bon bain chaud et au lit! Demain nous nous levons tot pour prendre la route et faire le tour de l'Islande. (Attention si vous avez des bijoux en argent ne les mettez pas sous l'eau chaude en Islande car ils vont devenir noir...)

Giorno 2: Reykjavik 

Abbiamo visitato la capitale camminando. Come prima tappa abbiamo visitato la cattedrale Hallgrimskirkja, dopodiché visitiamo la città vecchia passando da via Laugavegur. In questa via troverete negozi, bar e ristoranti,...Noi decidemmo di fermarci per pranzo al Icelandic street food. Vi consigliamo di fermarvi perché è davvero buono e non costa molto. Noi abbiamo scelto una zuppa di pesce che viene servita dentro una pagnotta che potrete riempire gratis! Continuando a camminare arriviamo al vecchio porto e sempre continuando a camminare lungo il mare arrivammo fino al Harpa Concert Hall dove decidiamo di entrare per riscaldarci un po’ e ammirare la sua architettura. Dopo ciò decidiamo di ritornare indietro nella vecchia città e di provare qualche birra Islandese. Ritorniamo al nostro Airbnb dove decidiamo di farci un bagno caldo e andare a letto presto visto che il giorno dopo giorno dovremo cominciare il nostro giro intorno l’Islanda. (Attenzione se avete gioielli d’argento non metteteli sotto l’acqua calda perché diventeranno neri...)

Day 3: Kerid crater, Guillfoss falls, Geysir strokkur and Secret Lagoon

The food in Iceland is quite expensive so the first things we did before taking the road is to buy food in a supermarket. We decided to save money on food so we made sandwich to eat on the road and cook in our different accommodations the night. Here we are on the road direction East. After less than an hour of drive, the first stop is the Kerid Crater. The entrance cost few euros, really impressive, you can go around the crater. It was a great walk to start the day. The two next stops are really touristic so a bit crowded, they are both free access. We drove more than a hour and we arrived at our second stop, the Guillfoss falls. The view was just breathtaking. Between the falls and the third stop, the Geysir strokkur you have only 10min drive where you can also see Icelandic horses. We did a quick stop to say hello. Strokkur is a geothermal area, with mud pools, fumaroles and geysers. The Geysir is really impressive, you have to be patient to see it, it erupts every 6-10min. Its usual height is 15–20m but sometimes it can go up 40m. We were so amazed. We drove 25min to enjoy our last stop of the day: the Secret Lagoon. Created in 1891, The secret Lagoon is a geothermal pool with a spouting geyser. The entrance cost around 20€ but it's just so good and relaxing to be in a water of 38°C when outside it's only -2°C. We finally drove 45min to our accomodation for the night that was next to Selfoss city. (A really nice Airbnb with a nice host, horses and the possibilities to see northern light.)

Jour 3: Kerid crater, Guillfoss falls, Geysir strokkur and Secret Lagoon

La nourriture en Islande coute cher, alors avant de partir sur la route nous avons fait quelques course dans un supermarché . Nous avons décidé d'économisé de l'argent sur la nourriture pour ce voyage alors nous avons acheté de quoi faire des sandwichs à manger sur la route et de quoi cuisiner pour le soir dans nos différents hébergements. Nous prenons la route direction l'est. Après moins d'une heure de route, le premier arrêt est Kerid cratère. L'entrée coute quelques euros, lieu impressionnant, vous pouvez faire le tour du cratère. C'était une bonne balade pour commencer la journée. Les deux prochains arrêts sont très touristique, alors un peu bondé, mais leur accès est gratuit. Nous avons conduit un peu plus d'une heure et nous sommes arrivés à notre deuxième arrêt: les cascades de Guillfoss. La vue est à couper le souffle. Entre les cascades et le troisième arrêt , le Geysir Strokkur, il y a seulement 10 min de voiture, et vous pouvez voir des chevaux d'Islande. On s'est arrêté pour dire bonjour. Strokkur est une zone géothermique, avec des mares de boue, des fumerolles et des geysers. Le Geysir est vraiment impressionnant, vous devez être patient pour le voir car il entre en éruption toutes les 6 à 10min. En général il monte à 15 - 20 mètre de hauteur mais parfois il peut monter à 40 mètre de hauteur. On était émerveillé! Puis nous avons conduit 25min pour arriver à notre dernier arrêt: le Secret Lagoon. Créé en 1891, le Secret Lagoon est une piscine géothermique avec des petits geyser jaillissant autour. L'entrée coute 20€ mais c'était tellement bien et relaxant d'être dans une eau à 38°C alors qu'il fait -2°C à l'extérieur. On a finalement conduit 45min pour arriver à notre Airbnb pour la nuit, situé à coté de la ville de Selfoss. (Super Airbnb avec une hote acceillante, des chevaux et la possibilité de voir les aurores boréales.)

Giorno 3: cratere Kerid, cascate Guillfoss, Geyser Strokkur e Laguna Segreta.

In Islanda il cibo è molto costoso quindi come prima cosa decidiamo di fermarci in un supermercato e comprare un po’ di provviste prima di metterci in strada. Abbiamo deciso di risparmiare sul cibo quindi durante il giorno mangiamo panini lungo la strada è alla sera cuciniamo qualcosa di caldo nei vari posti dove soggiorniamo. Finalmente ci mettiamo in strada direzione Est. Dopo neanche un ora di viaggio arriviamo alla nostra prima tappa della giornata il Cratere Kerid. L’entrata costa un paio di euro ed è impressionante come si possa camminare tutto intorno al cratere. Le prossime due fermate sono molto turistiche quindi troverete più gente però sono anche gratis. Riprendiamo a guidare e dopo più di un ora arriviamo a alla nostra seconda tappa, le cascate Guillfoss. La vista toglie sicuramente il fiato. Tra le cascate ed il Strokkur Geyser ci sono solo dieci minuti di viaggio in cui però potrete fermarvi ad ammirare i tipici cavalli Islandesi, noi ci siamo fermati per salutare i cavalli. Il Strokkur è un area geotermica piena di piscine con fango, fumarole e geyser. Il Geyser è davvero impressionante, dovete pazientare un po’ visto che erutta ogni 6-10 min e normalmente arriva ad un altezza di 15-20 metri anche se ogni tanto può arrivare anche a più di 40 metri. Vederlo ci davvero impressionato. Pronti per l’ultima tappa della giornata: la

Laguna Segreta che dista a soli 25 min. Creata nel 1891 la Laguna Segreta e una piscina in acqua geotermica ed intorno tanti piccoli geyser. L’entrata costa 20€ ma ne vale la pena dopo una giornata di freddo rilassarsi in una piscina naturale con L acqua a 38 C quando fuori c’è ne sono -2 C. La giornata è finita quindi dobbiamo avviarci al nostro Airbnb che dista 45 min e si trova vicino a Selfoss city.(Davvero bello questo Airbnb, la proprietaria davvero gentile, e potrete visitare le sue stalle piene di cavalli e la notte potrete uscire ad ammirare L’Aurora Boreale).

Day 4: Seljalandsfoss fall, Skogafoss fall, Sólheimasandur plane wreck, Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara black sand beach

After 1h of drive on the south cost of Iceland we arrived to our first stop Seljalandsfoss fall. An amazing fall where you can walk behind. You just have 20min ride to arrive to the next stop Skogafoss fall where on this incredible fall you can walk to the top! We try to get closer as we can but the ground was ice so super slippery and the wind was strong, not easy but we managed to get closer to enjoy this incredible view. On the road between this two stops you can find a fences full of ladies bras! Some local started this tradition to put bras on the fence as they were having a party and stole some bras from a local lady nearby. Since then people passing by have donated bras to the fence. Will you also leave your bras? The third stop is Sólheimasandur plane wreck, only at 10min away. But be ready from the parking to the plane wreck you have about 1h of walk! (You have also the possibilities to take a shuttle). In 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur, fortunately, everyone in that plane survived. An really mystical landscape with this abandoned white plane on this black sand beach. The next stop ,at 20min drive, was the lookout of Dyrhólaey. You will have a breathtaking of the sea, volcanic rocks and black sand beach. This spot is perfect for sunset. Before it started to be dark we quickly drove 20 more min to Reynisfjara black sand beach and enjoy this incredible black sand beach with a pink sky! Just beautiful! And we finally drove one more hour to arrive in our night accommodation.

Jour 4: Cascade Seljalandsfoss, cascade Skogafoss, l'épave d'avion Sólheimasandur, Dyrhólaey and la plage de sable noir Reynisfjara

Après 1h de route le long de la cote sud de l'ile nous arrivons à notre premier arrêt: la cascade Seljalandsfoss. Une incroyable cascade où vous pouvez aller derrière la chute d'eau. A juste 20min de voiture, le deuxieme arrêt: la cascade Skogafoss. Vous pouvez monter en haut de cette impressionnante cascade. Nous avons essayé de nous rapprocher au plus près mais avec le sol glissant et le vent ce n'était pas facile mais nous avons pu quand meme admirer cette puissante cascade de plus près. Sur la route entre les deux cascades vous allez voir une barrière avec des soutiens gorges accrochés. Apparemment des locals ont commencé cette tradition, pendant des fetes ils volaient les soutient gorges des femmes et les accrochés sur la barrière. Depuis les passants ont déposé leur soutiens gorges sur la barrière. Laisserez vous aussi votre soutien gorge? Le troisième arrêt est l'épave d'avion Sólheimasandur, à seulement 10min. Soyez prêt à marcher car entre le parking et l'épave de l'avion vous avez un peu moins d'1h de marche. (vous pouvez également prendre la navette). En 1973 un avion de la marine américaine tombe en panne d'essence et se crash sur cette plage de sable noir à Sólheimasandur, heureusement tout le monde a survécu. Un paysage mystique avec cette épave d'avion blanc et ce sable noir. Le prochain arrêt est à 20min de route, c'est le point de vue de Dyrhólaey ; Vous avez une superbe vue de la mer, les roches volcaniques et des plages de sables noir. Parfait pour le coucher de soleil. Et juste avant qu'il fasse nuit nous avons rapidement conduit jusqu'à la plage de Reynisfjara à 20min d'ici. Pour profiter de cette belle plage de sable noir et de ce ciel rosé. Juste magnifique. On a finalement conduit environ 1h pour arriver à notre logement pour la nuit.

Giorno 4: Cascate Seljalandsfoss, Cascate Skogafoss, relitto aereo di Sólheimasandur, Dyrhólaey e Reynisfjara la spiaggia di sabbia nera.

Dopo aver guidato un ora sulla costa sud dell’Islanda arriviamo alla nostra prima fermata le cascate di Seljalandsfoss. Una cascata spettacolare che potrete ammirare passandoci dietro. La prossima fermata è a soli 20 minuti dove troviamo le cascate di Skogafoss in cui questa volta potrete camminarci sopra! Abbiamo provato ad avvicinarci il più possibile anche se il pavimento di ghiaccio era molto scivoloso è il vento soffiava molto forte, non facile ma siamo riusciti ad avvicinarci ed ammirare da vicino la cascata. Sulla strada tra queste due fermate potrete vedere dei reggiseni appesi su una staccionata! Alcuni locali hanno cominciato questa usanza durante qualche dove rubavano i reggiseni delle ragazze delle località vicine. Da allora la gente che passa da qui dona il proprio reggiseno e lo mette sulla staccionata. Anche voi lascerete il vostro? La terza fermata è Sólheimasandur dove si trova il relitto aereo, che dista solo 10 minuti. Preparatevi bene nel parcheggio perché avrete un ora di camminata prima di arrivare al relitto!(potete anche prendere uno shuttle ovviamente a pagamento). Nel 1973 un aereoplano della aeronautica miltira degli Stati Uniti rimase senza carburante e si schiantò sulla spiaggia nera di Sólheimasandur, fortunatamente tutto l’equipaggio è sopravvissuto all’incidente. Questo aereo sulla spiaggia nera crea un paesaggio mistico e surreale. La prossima fermata è a 20 minuti di macchina prima di arrivare a Dyrhólaey. Troverete un paesaggio mozzafiato con il mare, le rocce vulcaniche e la spiaggia di sabbia nera. Un ottimo posto per ammirare il tramonto. Prima che diventi buoi decidiamo di guidare altri 20 minuti fino a Reynisfjara un’altra spiaggia di sabbia nera dove poter ammirare un spettacolare cielo rosa! Semplicemente stupendo! Finalmente decidiamo di avviarci verso la prossima sosta dove passare la notte che dista 1 un’ora di macchina.

Day 5: Kalta Ice cave, Jökulsárlón lagoon and Diamond Beach

We both wanted to do a unique experience in Iceland and we choose to visit an Ice cave. We booked it in advanced via Troll expedition. We chose to do the Skaftafell tour unfortunately the night before the agency contact us to cancel because of the weather condition, so we had to choose another tour. Here we are to on our way to visit Kalta Ice cave. A natural ice cave underneath Katla volcano that is still active. When you enter in the Ice cave it's just incredible, beautiful and breathtaking. It was one of our best memory of Island. We know it's a bit expensive but it's the kind of things you do once in your life. This activity took us the full morning and we still have a lot to drive! The next stop is Jökulsárlón at 2h20 of drive. Jökulsárlón is a large lagoon open to the sea. The iceberg are falling and floating first on this lake. The lake has grown because of melting of the glaciers. They are also travelling to the sea and beach themselves on the beach. So you have two things to see here. First the lake, where you can see sea lions playing around this floating icebergs. Then Diamond beach, where you can admire a magical landscape and this black sand highlighting the blue and purity of the icebergs. The colors are amazing during sunset! Time for us to drive 3h to arrive at our Airbnb night accomodation located in the south east cost next to Breiðdalsvík.

Jour 5: La grotte de glace Kalta, le lagon Jökulsárlón et la plage Diamond Beach

Nous voulions faire une activité unique à l'Islande alors nous avons choisi de visiter une grotte de glace. Nous avions réservé en avance par Troll expedition. Nous avions choisi de faire le tour Skaftafell, malheureusement, la veille l'agence nous a contacté pour annuler... à cause des conditions météorologiques alors nous avons du choisir un autre tour. Nous voila en route pour visiter la grotte de glace Kalta. Une grotte de glace naturellement créé sous le volcan Katla qui est toujours actif. Quand vous entrez dans la grotte c'est juste incroyable et beau, on était sans voix! C'était l'un de nos plus souvenir en Islande. C'était un peu cher mais c'est le genre de chose qu'on fait qu'une fois dans sa vie. Cette activité nous a pris la matinée et nous avons encore beaucoup de route. Le prochain arrêt est Jökulsárlón, à 2h20 de route. Jökulsárlón est un lagon ouvert sur la mer. Les icebergs tombent des glaciers et flottent sur ce lac. Le lac s'est agrandi ces dernière années à cause de la fonte de glace. Les Icebergs voyagent également jusqu'à la mer et viennent aussi s'échoué sur la plage de Diamond Beach. Vous avez deux choses à voir ici. D'abord le lac où vous pouvez voir des otaries jouer entre les icebergs. Puis la plage de Diamond beach, un paysage magique avec le sable noir qui met en valeur le bleu et la pureté des icebergs. Les couleurs sont encore plus belle au couché du soleil. Il est temps pour nous de prendre la route nous avons 3h de route pour arriver à notre Airbnb situé au sud est près de Breiðdalsvík.

Giorno 5: Grotta di ghiaccio Kalta, laguna di Jökulsárlón e la spiaggia di diamanti.

Entrambi volevamo fare un’esperienza unica in Islanda quindi decidiamo di visitare una Grotta di Ghiaccio. Abbiamo prenotato in anticipo con Troll expedition. Abbiamo deciso di fare il Skaftafell tour ma sfortunatamente la sera prima veniamo contattati dall’agenzia che ci avverte che il tour è chiuso causa maltempo, ci danno altre opzioni e quindi decidiamo di scegliere un’altro tour. Eccoci finalmente sulla strada che ci conduce alla grotta di ghiaccio Kalta. Una grotta naturale fatta completamente di ghiaccio sopra al vulcano ancora attivo. È davvero emozionante entrare in questa grotta di ghiaccio. Questa è stata una delle esperienze che più ci rimarrà impressa. È un po’ cara ma è una di quelle cose che ti rimane per tutta la vita. La prossima fermata è Jökulsárlón a 2 ore 20 minuti di macchina. Jökulsárlón è una gigantesca laguna piena di icebergs che da sul mare. Tutti questi iceberg finiscono sulla spiaggia creando un paesaggio stupendo. Qui dunque potrete ammirare due cose, la laguna con i suoi iceberg galleggianti e le foche che ci giocano intorno e la spiaggia di Diamanti dove potrete ammirare questa immensa spiaggia nera ricoperta da da grossi iceberg privi di impurità e dal colore azzurro celeste. I colori che creano al tramonto sono spettacolari! È tempo per noi di rimetterci in marcia e guidare 3 ore fino al nostro Airbnb che si trova nella costa sud est vicino a Breiðdalsvík.

Day 6: Geothermal spot of Hverir namafjalls, lake Myvatn and Myvatn hot bath

We drove 3h to arrive to the north side of the Island. In the north the snow was more important so it was not easy to access our first stop because the entrance and parking was under the snow. The first stop is Hverir Namafjall, geothermal spot with bubbling pools of mud & steaming fumaroles emitting sulfuric gas. The gas sulfuric emitted doesn't smell good at all! Then we drove 15min to the Lake Myvatn, a huge lake that offers a beautiful landscape. And to end the day at only 10min we stop in Myvatn nature bath. Similar to the famous blue Lagoon but half price and less crowded so we choose to do Myvatn lagoon. The water is heat thanks to the geothermal area around, the temperature is between 36 to 40°C. The water contain Sulphur, it have a positive effect on asthma and other respiratory diseases, and is considered to have a good effect on the development of skin problems. You can also enjoy a beer or a glass of wine in the Lagoon and admire the beautiful sunset. So relaxing! Then we drove 3h to arrive at our night accommodation around the city of Saudárkrókur. On the road around the city of Akureyri you will go through a tunnel, you have to pay online to cross this tunnel, a pannel is in front to tell you. Personally we didn't see it and we got a fine, so little tip to avoid the same mistake.

Day 6: la zone géothermique de Hverir Namafjall , Lac Myvatn et les bains naturels de Myvatn

Nous avons conduit 3h direction le nord de l'ile. Dans le nord la neige était plus importante alors il n'a pas été simple d'accéder à notre premier arrêt car l'entrée et le parking était couvert de neige. Ce premier arrêt est Hverir Namafjall un zone géothermique avec des mares de boue bouillonnantes et fumaroles fumantes émettant du gaz sulfurique. Le gaz sulfurique ne sent d'ailleurs pas bon du tout. Puis nous avons conduit 15min pour rejoindre le Lac Myvatn, un immense lac qui offre un magnifique paysage. Puis nous avons fini notre journée par les bains naturels de Myvatn qui se trouve à 10min. Similaire au célèbre Blue Lagoon qui ce trouve près de la capital mais moitié prix et moins bondé c'est pour cela qu'on a préféré aller au lagon de Myvatn. L'eau est chauffé grace au zone géothermique qui se trouve autour, la température de l'eau est entre 36°C à 40°C. L'eau contient du soufre, qui a des effets positifs pour l'asthme et autre problèmes respiratoire, ça a également des effets positifs sur le développement de problème de peau. Vous pouvez également profiter d'une bière ou d'un verre de vin dans le lagon et admirer le coucher de soleil. Super relaxant! Puis nous avons conduit 3h pour arriver à notre Airbnb près de la ville de Saudárkrókur. Sur la route près de la ville de Akureyri, vous allez passer sous un tunnel, vous avez quelques jours pour payez 'le péage' en ligne, un panneau à l'entrée du tunnel vous l'indique. Nous n'avons pas vu ce panneau et nous avons eu une petite amende, alors faite attention si vous ne voulez pas faire la meme erreur.

Giorno 6: Zona geotermica di Hverir namafjalls, lago Myvatn e le terme naturali di Myvatn

Dopo aver guidato 3 ore verso nord, la parte più difficile anche perché le precipitazioni nevose sono più intense arriviamo alla nostra prima tappa della giornata le Hverir Namafjall una zona geotermica dove poter ammirare pozze di fango bollenti e fumarole che emettono gas come lo zolfo. L’odore non è per niente gradevole! Continuiamo il nostro viaggio guidando per soli 15 minuti fino ad arrivare al lago Myvatn, un immenso lago che offre panorami eccezionali. Per finire la giornata a soli 10 minuti di macchina arriviamo alle terme naturali di Myvatn. Molto simili alla famosa Laguna Blu ma a metà del prezzo e poco affollata per questo tra le due abbiamo scelto di fermarci a Myvatn. L’acqua è riscaldata dalla azione geotermica presente tutto intorno che riscalda l’acqua ad una temperatura che va tra i 36 C e i 40 C. Le acque contengono zolfo che è ottimo per chi soffre di asma o altri problemi delle vie respiratorie e pare anche che abbia effetti benefici anche contro le malattie della pelle. Potrete anche godervi di una birra o un bicchiere di vino e rilassarvi godendovi il tramonto. Davvero rilassante. È ora di rimettersi in strada e guidare per 3 ore fino alla nostra prossima sosta vicino a Saudárkrókur dove poter passare la notte. Sulla strada vicino alla città di Akureyri troverete un tunnel che dovrete pagare online come dice il pannello all’entrata. Personalmente non l’abbiamo visto e abbiamo ricevuto una multa, un consiglio se volete evitare sgradevoli inconvenienti.

Day 7: Kirkjufell mountain, Gerduberg basalt column and Fossatun camping pods

Today, the weather condition wasn't the best so we didn't see that much of this two beautiful site that we advise you to go. We drove 4h to arrive to our first stop Kirkjufell mountain. The drive wasn't easy today lot of wind and snow so we drove slowly. One part of the road was between sea and cliffs, a beautiful landscape but we didn't felt that much confident because of weather conditions. Kirkjufell is a beautiful landscape with a mountain of 463 m high and falls just in front. Unfortunately this day the fall was frozen, and the landscape so white that we couldn't see the mountain. We then drove 1h to the next stop, the Gerduberg basalt column. The basalt is a rock made from lava. It is a row of perfectly shaped hexagonal basalt columns that go up to 14m and that run along a cliff of 1km, made by nature. We could only see it from the main road because the road to access was close because of the snow. So we continue to drive to our Airbnb accommodation for the night. It was about an hour and we really recommend you to sleep at the Fossatun. It's a kind of camping with cute little room in wood. The owner is passionate about trolls, he write a book and create a nice walk around the camping to know more about the trolls. And we had the chance to see northen light this night.

Jour 7: La montagne Kirkjufell, les colonnes de basaltes de gerduberg et le camping Fossatun

Aujourd'hui les conditions météorologique ne sont pas top, alors nous n'avons pas pu pleinement profité des endroits que l'on vous propose. Nous avons conduit 4h pour arriver au premier arrêt: la montagne Kirkjufell. La route n'était pas facile à cause du vent et de la neige alors nous avons conduit lentement. Une partie de la route était entre mer et falaise, un très beau paysage mais pas toujours rassuré à cause des conditions. Kirkjufell est un magnique paysage avec une montagne haute de 463m et d'une cascade. Malheureusement ce jour la cascade a congelé et le paysage était tellement blanc qu'on ne pouvait pas distinguer la montagne. Puis nous avons conduit 1h jusqu'au prochain arrêt : les colonnes de basaltes de Gerduberg. Le basalte est une roche provenant de la lave. Gerduberg est un composé de colonne de basalte à la forme hexagonal parfaitement aligné, haut de 14m et long de 1km, fabriqué par la nature. Nous avons pu le voir seulement depuis la route principale car la route qui y accede avait disparu sous la neige. Alors nous avons continué de conduire pour rejoindre notre Airbnb pour la nuit. C'était à 1h de route et on vous recommande de dormir à Fossatun. C'est un camping avec des cabanes en bois comme logement. Le propriétaire est passionné par les trolls, il a écrit un livre dessus et créé une balade autour du camping expliquant le mythes de trolls. Nous avons également pu voir des aurores boréales ce soir la.

Giorno 7: Montagna Kirkjufell, colonne di basalto di Gerduberg e campeggio bungalow Fossatum.

Oggi il tempo non è affatto bello visto che la visibilità dato il mal tempo è ridotta e non siamo riusciti a vedere granché anche se ve lo consigliamo perché è davvero bello. Guidammo per ben 4 ore fino ad arrivare alla nostra prima tappa della giornata: la montagna Kirkjufell. La guida oggi non è stata semplice per niente oggi, un sacco di vento e neve quindi decidiamo di guidare piano. In  una parte del tragitto avevamo le scogliere da un lato e il mare dall’altro un bellissimo paesaggio, purtroppo non ci siamo fermati perché le condizioni metereologiche erano molto avverse e abbiamo preferito guidare. Kirkjufell potrete trovare un paesaggio stupendo con la sua montagna di 463 m ed una cascata giusto davanti. Purtroppo quando siamo arrivati la cascata era completamente ghiacciata e la montagna nascosta dalla nebbia così tanta che non siamo riusciti neanche a intravederla. Quindi decidiamo di continuare il nostro cammino e guidare per un altra ora fino ad arrivare alle colonne di basalto di Gerduberg. Il basalto é una roccia creata dalla lava. È composta da immense colonne di forma perfettamente esagonale che possono arrivare a 14 metri d’altezza e che  tutta la scogliera per più di 1 kilometro. Siamo riusciti a vederla dalla strada principale visto che la strada per arrivarci vicino era chiusa causa neve e maltempo. Quindi decidiamo di continuare a guidare verso il nostro Airbnb dove poter passare la notte. Dopo aver guidato per quasi un ora arriviamo a Fossatun. È tipo un campeggio con dei piccoli bungalow in legno. Il proprietario è appassionato di trolls, ed oltre ad aver scritto un libro su di loro ha creato una piacevole camminata intorno al campeggio per scoprire di più sui trolls. Quella notte abbiamo avuto l’occasione di vedere l’aurora boreale.

Day 8: Back to Keflavik airport

Today it's time to leave this wonderful Island. We slept a bit more and join Reykjavík for lunch that is at an hour. After lunch we drove to the airport and flew home. Iceland was an incredible discovery with unique landscape. We were so impressed to see that many kind of natural landscape on one island. The weather wasn't easy, cold and windy but it so much worth it!

Jour 8: Retour à l'aéroport de Keflavik

Aujourd'hui il est temps de quitter cette belle ile. Ce matin nous avons dormi plus longtemps puis nous avons rejoins Reykjavík pour le déjeuner qui se trouve à 1h du camping. Après le déjeuner direction l'aéroport. L'Islande était incroyable, nous avons découvert des paysages unique. On a vraiment été impressionné de voir tant de different type de paysages sur une ile. Le météo n'était pas facile au quotidien, avec le vent et le froid mais ça vaut tellement le coup!

Giorno 8: Ritorniamo all’aeroporto di Keflavik 

Oggi è di lasciare questa spettacolare Isola. Ci siamo lasciati dormire un po’ di più per poi riprendere la strada ed arrivare fino a Reykjavik per pranzo. Dopo per pranzo salutiamo anche Reykjavik e ci dirigiamo verso l’aeroporto per tornare a casa. L’Islanda è stata davvero una meravigliosa scoperta con tutti i suoi paesaggi. Ci ha davvero impressionato vedere così tanti paesaggi naturali tutti insieme in una sola Isola. Il tempo non ci ha aiutato e neache il freddo e il vento ma ne è valsa davvero la pena!
